Tools throughout the game have a linear progression, and while they do have increased stats at higher tiers, these stats often become redundant due to the automation throughout the game. All tool tiers can mine any resource throughout the game, and only increase the speed of gathering said resources.

• Stone – When you first begin your adventure in Palworld, stone is one of the first resources you will come across. It is used to craft early tools (see: Stone Axe, Stone Pickaxe). Stone is a fundamental resource throughout the rest of the game, being utilized for higher tier items as well.

• Metal – Metal is the second tier of resource throughout the game, and is utilized until the end-game. While not being a very difficult resource to find, it is a step up from stone, having a faster resource gather time, and unlocking tools such as the Meat Cleaver.

• Refined Metal – The third tier and final tier of resource for tools, requiring a crafting process to acquire. Refined metal tools are the fastest character tools in the game, and are considered to be end-game tools.
